Once again, as usual, Senate Public was called to order at 4:10pm in the Student Union for one last hurrah before a much-needed spring break. Student Body President Andrew Happy ’27 began the meeting with a few updates. First, the Community Safety Search Committee has identified candidates, and is moving forward to longer interviews to finalize hiring. Second, outreach from the Student Publications Committee has been made to the Griffin since our last reporting on the matter, but a response is still pending. Happy also announced that he would be working with Res Life later in the week, and that the Academic Support Committee will meet later today.

Next, Student Body Vice President Taylor Barth ’27 reported that the Admissions and Financial Aid Committee is scheduled to meet in April. He also reported that the Art and Murals Committee would meet this Wednesday, and the Commons Committee is meeting today. He also informed attendees that the Student Committee on Diversity (SCOD) is consistently tabling in Commons from 12-1pm, and encouraged students to visit them to fill out surveys about Identity Funding, campus resource accessibility, and sense of belonging.

Senator Stella Greer ’29 shared that the Computing Planning and Policy Committee (CPPC) met last Friday, and had no other updates.

Senator Alastair Budd ’27 also reported from the CPPC, stating that their discussion had revolved around updates to policy around cookies and electronic trackers. He also reported that a new committee may be created to compile digital accessibility standards in the future.

Assistant Treasurer Al McKee ’29 and Vice Treasurer Bella Reyes ’27 both had no updates to report.

Head Treasurer Maya Gutierrez ’27 reported that FinComm did not meet last week, since no groups attended. She elaborated that a longer meeting was scheduled for Wednesday to make up for it.

Senator & Appointment Committee (AppComm) Co-Chair Sima Fasihi ’28 reported that she would not be able to attend the Academic Support Services meeting because of a conflict with a class. She also reminded students about upcoming AppComm positions, and encouraged them to apply. She also reported that new hires for SCOD have been selected, and reminded students to take the new SCOD survey, which has posters linking to it around campus.

Senator Manoel Pereira-Lopes ’28 reported that the Art Collection Committee was scheduled to meet on Wednesday. He also announced that he and Senator & AppComm Co-Chair Sofie Braunstein ’28 are working on revising Senate’s bylaws, and a draft will be released soon. Senator Enzo Lawrence ’28 and Senator Braunstein were both absent.

After all reports, the floor was opened to the audience. One member commented that it was a “particularly nice day outside.” The meeting was then adjourned at 4:17pm, giving Senate the opportunity to go enjoy the sun.
