On the most momentous holiday at Reed College, Senate held their second-to-last Senate Public at their usual time and place, despite festivities (including blunt donuts in the Quad). Student Body President Andrew Happy ’27 started the meeting promptly at 4:10pm by reporting that the CSO Liaison had identified the finalists for the Director of Community Safety. Final interviews will be held in May. Members of the community who are interested in hearing presentations of the candidates are encouraged to reach out to Happy for more information. Happy also reported that Academic Support Services met on April 17 to plan for next semester, and there will be a meeting (which Student Body Vice President Taylor Barth ’27 will also be attending) for the Climate Assessment Process on April 22.

Student Body Vice President Barth reported that students can now utilize the Commons app to donate board points to the Renn Fayre Feast or the food pantry. He also reminded everyone that they can use the app to order food. He shared that the Student Committee on Diversity (SCOD) hosted karaoke night on Thursday in the Multicultural Resource Center.

Senator Sam Kuo ’28 had nothing new to report.

He also reported that SHARE plans to increase safety measures during HVMPlay and Renn Fayre. These plans include expanding Night Owl patrol and improving communication. Lawrence also advocated for SHARE printing costs not being taken out of students’ personal printing budget.

AppComm Co-Chair and Senator Sima Fasihi ’28 reported that the Title IX committee met to plan out the following semester. Academic Resources discussed the Junior Qual survey. AppComm is still working on hiring for Honor Council. SCOD has been hosting discussions with identity based affinity groups focused on Identity Club funding and affinity spaces.

Assistant Treasurer Al McKee ’29 had no new updates, but announced Renn Fayre preparations such as Costume Making that afternoon.

Vice Treasurer Bella Reyes ’27 reported FinComm received a request from Cheese Club for $94 for printing. FinComm allocated $74.

Head Treasurer Maya Gutierrez ’27 reported that the printing stipend for clubs is being increased. She emphasized materials related to harm reduction and Title IX would be prioritized. She finished off by encouraging students to volunteer for Renn Fayre.

Senator J.R. Wallingford ’27 reminded the student body to vote in the Student Body Election.

Senator Alaistir Budd ’27 had no new updates.

Appointments Committee Co-Chair and Senator Sofie Braunstein ’28 reported Committee Accessibility Resources and Disability Services (CARDS) would be meeting later that day. She continued stating that a large Reed Union event would take place next week. Reed Union also has an official email (reedunion@reed.edu). She concluded by reporting that the bylaw review was in its final stretch.

Students were informed that the updated Nudity Guidelines were now available on the college website.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:19pm. All members were present besides Stella Greer ’29 and Justin Sotomayor ’27
