Statement from Treasury

It was brought to Treasury and AppComm’s attention that some students currently on the student body payroll were not receiving their full advertised stipend, and instead were receiving a stipend reduced according to the time they were added to the wage sheet.

Stipends are typically distributed over the semester over 7 or 8 weeks from the beginning of the semester. Positions that were hired after the start of the semester were supposed to receive back-pay of the portion of the stipend delegated to each pay period.

Without the knowledge of Senate, students were not receiving their back-pay stipend portions, resulting in not receiving their full advertised stipends. Moving forward, Senate will be honoring the full stipend as advertised. Treasury has worked with the Business Office to issue backpay this upcoming Friday to any student this semester that had their stipend reduced.
